We hope this page will lead you to visit the
shop in the beautiful surroundings of Cheddar Gorge, situated in the
Mendip Hills in the heart of Somerset.
This small business was set up in
March 1999 when Terry's woodcarving business closed after fourteen years
of fairground carving, and it is still growing steadily. Now
moving into a third unit.
Doll's Houses have been Chris's
interest for many years, and when nothing more could be added to her
collection, she decided to start this business to continue her hobby.
The shop is small but it's packed to
the ceiling with over ten thousand different items from more than one
hundred and forty different suppliers, with new stock coming in all the time.
Their regular customers are often amazed at how the shop changes all the
time.
Apart from stocking Doll's House Workshop and Emporium
doll's house kits, there are sometimes unusual houses which Terry makes himself.
There are also sixty properly set up room boxes displaying hundreds of
items in their natural setting, which again are changed from week to week.
They stock most of the materials required for
the building of doll's houses, including doors and windows, wood mouldings, roofing, lighting and
transformers, glues, papers and Swann Morton modelling knives.
Visitors to the shop will receive all the
information and advice they may need on any aspect of construction along with
practical demonstrations when necessary.
Just a few of their suppliers are:- Danny Shotton,
fine implements and tools in steel
and ebony, Suvan handmade hats, Glasscraft, cranbury glass, Reuters porcelain from
Germany, Julies
handmade flowers, Janet Granger, needlecraft rugs and samplers. D.M.C
flower threads and needles, etc, etc, as well as all the major suppliers, Aztec, Dijon,
Schmieder, Emporium, Blackwells, Streets Ahead, Sylshire, J.L.B.Stewart Ross,
Delph, Miniature Scene and Glenowen.
The shop is expanding all the time, now with a large selection
of silver jewellery, a geology department with over 1000 different crystals and
minerals and just recently a stamp shop with philatelic material from almost
every country in the world.
The shop is open every day from Easter to
Christmas, and later during the tourist season, but closed
on Tuesdays from Christmas to Easter. Still open six days a week even in
the winter.
Unfortunately they don't have a catalogue
available to
send out as their stock is changing all the time, but they will be happy to
receive telephone calls to enquire as to the availability of any item.
Chris & Terry look forward to meeting you
in the shop, in the meantime,
